Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 pounds ground beef
1 cup yellow onion, chopped finely
½ cup celery, chopped finely
½ cup green bell pepper, seeded and chopped finely
½ cup red bell pepper, seeded and chopped finely
1 (15-ounce) can crushed tomatoes with juice
1½ cups tomato juice
1½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon dried oregano
3 tablespoons red chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
- In a large pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat and cook the beef for
about 8-10 minutes or until browned. - Drain the grease from pan, leaving about 2 tablespoons inside.
- In the pan, add the onions, celery and bell peppers over medium-high heat
and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. - Add the tomatoes, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, oregano and spices
and stir to combine. - Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered for about 1-1½ hours, stirring
occasionally. - Serve hot.
